Sitting in a Starbucks in Celebration...

So it's been a while since I posted, sorry... Life's been kinda busy.
However, today I am on a day off, and I decided to come to Celebration to do some homework out of the house.  But before I start off on my actual homework, I just needed to comment on my surroundings.
I feel like I am sitting in the middle of The Truman Show.  Seriously.  This town center looks just like the town that was created for Truman to live in.
It all just looks so fake and contrived.  None of the architecture fits together.  I am not sure whether I am supposed to be in Cape Cod, Key West, Savannah, or some other place that is totally different and manufactured.  I just can't see how anyone could live here.  I work in a theme park, I would not want to live in something that is trying to be one.

  1. My parents and I visited Celebration ten years ago when we were down in Florida--it was the craziest place! Do a lot of people actually live there? It was just starting then. (I also think that they found a dead body in the lake in the front).

Also, I came across your blog through facebook so I have been reading (hope it's not too stalkeresque). I didn't realize Clark had a program with Disney. Do you work and take classes? Where do you take classes? Your experience sounds so different and fun.

    Hope all is well.

  2. It is very crazy. And it is even crazier that people live there. According to wikipedia, about 9,500 people live there. It's not really a town like in the northeast, since down here counties are more important.

It's not that stalkerish. Clark doesn't really have a program with Disney. It is more Disney has an internship program that I was able to get Clark to give me credit for... I work about 30 hours a week as a Safari driver at animal kingdom, and I am doing a bunch of independent study sort of work. Disney has classes that they offer, but they are more professional development type things, so I am not getting credit for taking them (although some people from other schools do).
It is a lot of hard work, but I am definitely having a lot of fun!
I hope you are doing well :-)
